A Local (2001)

Hilda Spalviene, a cheerful German woman from the Klaipėda region, lives in the village of Šakininkai. She reflects on her life: living in Germany with her husband before the war, then being exiled to Siberia afterward. She later returned to Germany but chose to return to Šakininkai – the homeland of her parents. While the film centers on Hilda's story, it also gently prompts us to think about the complexities of multiculturalism and identity in the Klaipėda region. Hilda, with a noticeable accent, insists she is local, having been born there and intending to spend her remaining years in Šakininkai.
