Virgen negra (2011)

"Black Virgin" explores the lives of women in Mozambique, where early marriage and sexual abuse are common experiences that often dictate their sexual lives. Traditional beliefs surrounding virginity and AIDS, alongside high rates of pregnancy and polygamy, further shape their realities. The film also depicts dangerous traditional abortions and the societal expectation that sexuality ends around age 45. Through the stories of Linda, Aicha, Gwyneth, Luisa, and Emilia, "Black Virgin" openly portrays these realities, including an intimate sex scene, with no reservations.
