Between Borders (2008)

Ali, a young and successful man from Istanbul, travels to a remote island to find a valuable plot of land. His journey begins with immediate setbacks – a note at the port reads, "No Ferry Today." He encounters Memo, an elderly fisherman, and offers him money for passage. Memo declines money, accepting only a cigarette. As the captain, Memo dictates the slow pace of the boat, which forces Ali to slow down as well, shaping the entire story. Initially, the two men appear vastly different, but their shared reliance on each other reveals that their differences are not as significant as they seem.
