Description:
This collection of four short stories explores the lives of women during the late 18th and 19th centuries. The first tells of a father's attempt to arrange his daughter's marriage into a wealthy family. The second follows a woman who believes her daughter-in-law is manipulating her son and plots to kill her. The third depicts a wife who begins an affair with her servant due to her husband's inability to have children. The final story centers on a concubine whose life is threatened when it's revealed her child is not the king's.
