The University of Utah Utes, a team often overlooked, earned a spot among the nation's best in a BCS bowl game against the Big East Champion University of Pittsburgh in Tempe, Arizona. Utah's impressive offense kept Pitt off balance, and the Utes controlled the game, winning 35-7. As Mountain West Champions, they were the first team outside the major conferences to reach a BCS game. Bringing a strong offense and defense, along with a large, enthusiastic crowd of Utah fans, the Utes achieved their first undefeated season since 1930 and won the 2005 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Championship.
