Chicagoblok – Verhalen uit de lift (2008)

The Chicagoblok, a twenty-plus story building in Antwerp, has a negative image in the city. However, its residents see it differently. Louis, a retiree, has lived there with his Thai wife for three years and gets along well with his neighbors, despite not being particularly proud of the building. After his wife left him, Rudi moved into the council housing project and complains about the noise and the people he perceives as "negroes" who are active at night. Single Sandra is ashamed of the neighborhood and hopes for the arrival of her new Moroccan husband, whom she met online. Yves, an African resident, is proud of the building, feeling safe and puzzled by the criticism it receives.
