Nook of War (2003)

In the midst of the Second Sino-Japanese War, Shanwa and his family lived a quiet life in the Taihang Mountains. Their peace is shattered when Japanese soldiers establish an artillery tower at a nearby pass. During a hunt, Shanwa is shot by the soldiers, suffering a near-fatal injury. Fueled by anger, he defiantly protests their presence. This act draws the soldiers' ire, leading to repeated chases and the discovery of his home. The Japanese brutally murder his wife and child, but Shanwa escapes. With his father's help, he vows to fight back against the invaders.
