Description:
In 1920s Greece, occupied by the Turks and fractured by war, a village prepares for its annual Passion Play. The town elders, guided by the Patriarch, select the actors: a stuttering shepherd as Jesus, the town butcher as Judas, and the local prostitute as Mary Magdalene. As the play unfolds, a group of war-displaced and impoverished villagers arrives, led by their priest. The wealthier townsfolk, however, seek to exclude them and orchestrate a massacre, mirroring the biblical story in the harsh realities of the time.
