Description:
In the early 1940s, Sikorsky Aircraft built the VS-44, a large four-engine flying boat intended for transatlantic passenger service, capable of carrying over 40 people. Only three were made: Excalibur, Exeter, and Excambian, which was purchased by Charlie Blair and actress Maureen O'Hara, who affectionately called it "The Queen of the Sky." The film follows aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky and the eleven-year effort by volunteers at Sikorsky's Stratford plant to restore Excambian.
