Description:
An artist named Shimamura travels to a secluded, snowbound town seeking renewal. He rekindles a connection with Komako, a geisha he previously met, and they experience what feels like love. Komako is the foster daughter of a local family, engaged to their son Yukio, who is now dying from tuberculosis. Yukio is cared for by his sister Yuko, who blames Komako for leaving her brother. Shimamura returns to Tokyo, promising to return soon. Anticipating his arrival, Komako breaks with her patron, and her family loses their home. Things become complicated when Shimamura doesn't return as promised. Komako then learns that he and Yuko knew each other in Tokyo. Can Komako change her fate?
