Random Passage (2002)

This award-winning miniseries follows young Mary Keane (Aoife McMahon) as she journeys from servitude in Ireland to the harsh fishing communities of Newfoundland in the early 1800s. Fleeing an assault, Mary and her baby daughter seek refuge at a remote station run by Thomas Hutchings (Colm Meaney). In a world where survival is a constant challenge, Mary becomes part of a community battling illness and hunger. The people of the Cape are all running from something, but through shared hardship and tragedy, they build a hopeful future – and find love along the way.
