In the Wu Zhou period, the entire family of Hu Xiande, a Deputy Imperial Censor, is murdered, leading Wu Zetian to task Detective Dee with the investigation. As Dee investigates, he uncovers that Hu Xiande, once a respected official, became unexpectedly involved in a significant case.
