Description:
Writer Monsieur Feydeau, struggling for inspiration, spies on his wealthy neighbors in Paris, 1900. He observes Monsieur Boniface and his controlling wife Angelique, and Monsieur Cotte, whose beautiful wife Marcelle feels neglected. Henri Cotte, meanwhile, is preoccupied with strange sounds in the plumbing and plans a night at the Hotel Paradiso, a place where Marcelle and Monsieur Boniface are meeting romantically. The hotel becomes a chaotic gathering spot for two wives, two husbands, a nephew, and a lively maid, culminating in a compromised rendezvous, complicated by a police raid. Feydeau witnesses it all, and his resulting play becomes a huge hit.
