The City (2007)

Yevgeny Yevtushenko described New York City as "all humanity in one drop." THE CITY examines this idea through the experiences of people who don't originally call New York home: immigrants, refugees, those living on the margins, and others. The film combines these stories with a visual and sonic montage to capture fleeting moments in the city at a specific time. Featuring haunting imagery, poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, and a distinctive score with "mutant harmonica," THE CITY is a visual poem about a city constantly reinvented by its immigrant history and evolving into the new century.
