Scent of Paradise (2003)

Hamid's marriage is crumbling under financial pressure. While holding hostages, he unexpectedly comes into possession of a bag of money and flees with a woman who appears to be deaf and mute. A pursuing assailant shoots at them, injuring Hamid. The woman then kills the attacker. Ultimately, Hamid discovers that the young woman is not actually deaf and mute; she had intentionally made herself appear so to remain anonymous.
