Description:
Yokosuka, Japan, in the aftermath of World War II. The presence of the American military and their influence leaves the adults too preoccupied to care for the war orphans. Forced to fend for themselves, these children had grown accustomed to survival through small tasks for American soldiers, sometimes resorting to petty crime. Then, they discover a new kind of work: cleaning. Working diligently and earning appreciation, the orphans begin to rediscover their joy and feel like they have a reason to live. They start dreaming of a simple life – renting a home with money they earn – but an even harsher reality awaits them.
