Home on the Island (2005)

In 1851, over 150 people from Arainn Mhor Island, off the coast of Donegal, Ireland, were forced from their homes. Maintaining their Gaelic language, they settled together in Canada, working on the railroads. Eventually, they established a new community on Beaver Island, in Lake Michigan – a small version of their homeland, far away. *Home on the Island* tells the story of these people's journey to Beaver Island and explores the distinct character of the two communities, connected by a shared ancestry but now separated by the Atlantic.
