In 2020, Hong Kong experienced a profound change with the implementation of a new security law, accelerating developments that were previously anticipated only in 2046. This unexpected shift sparked widespread anxiety and distress, creating a climate of fear, self-censorship, and a longing to escape alongside a deep sense of loss. *Room 404* is an essayistic response from the same artists who previously documented the growing social unrest in Hong Kong during an art residency in 2019, in their film *Room 525*.
