Description:
In 1985, Latvia remains under Soviet control. Renowned Latvian choral conductor Haralds Mednis is banned from the National Song and Dance Festival, and the Latvian song "Gaismas pils" ("Castle of Light") is removed from the festival program. Yet, the choirs and audience members chant Mednis's name and plead for him to conduct "Gaismas pils," defying the censors. This film explores the perspective of those within the state apparatus tasked with suppressing dissent during that time.
