Description:
This documentary film, originally made to encourage careers in public health and showcase American approaches to health education abroad, follows a young doctor during his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He becomes increasingly disheartened by the medical field's inability to address broader social and environmental health issues, leading him to discover public health. The doctor then relocates to Baltimore to study at Johns Hopkins, where he finds his purpose combating a diphtheria outbreak in the impoverished neighborhoods of East Baltimore. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive and Academy War Film Collection in 2011.
