Description:
Squarciò, a fisherman, lives with his family on a small Italian island. He and the other villagers face difficult lives, with dwindling fish stocks and unfair dealings from the local fish buyer. While his neighbors use nets, Squarciò illegally bombs the open sea to catch fish. He takes out a loan, loses his boat, and in desperation resorts to bombing too close to shore, alienating his community. Trying to provide for his family, Squarciò and his sons sail far out to sea and continue bomb-fishing. This time, the sea demands a devastating price.
