Sakurako Sato, a 51-year-old home care worker, has lived a lonely life marked by financial hardship and a lack of joy. Her father's business failure left her with significant debt, and she has dedicated herself to raising her younger sister, Umeko, without experiencing love or happiness. Further isolated by her appearance, Sakurako is often treated with disdain. While caring for a wealthy elderly client, Tamura, she encounters Ryuji, a handsome young man she instantly falls for. Their connection is threatened when Ryuji’s debts draw the attention of dangerous yakuza gangsters. To help him, Sakurako takes on a night job at a cabaret club for mature women, struggling to raise the money he needs.
