Description:
For decades, the Chagossians lived on the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean, under British control. From 1967 to 1973, the British government forcibly removed the islanders from their homes to make way for a major US military base on Diego Garcia. This base was vital for US and British operations in places like Afghanistan and the Middle East. The Chagossians were never consulted and had no say in the decision. The film shows how they were left to struggle in makeshift settlements in Mauritius and the Seychelles, with no hope of returning home. Many still face hardship today, unwelcome in their adopted countries, and their only hope is to reclaim their homeland.
