Description:

Between 1959 and 1962, approximately 5,000 children in Germany were born with severe disabilities, frequently including shortened limbs and internal organ damage. Roughly half of these children did not survive. In November 1961, it was revealed that the drug Contergan, a sleeping pill and sedative, was to blame. The active ingredient thalidomide had interfered with fetal development during early pregnancy. This documentary features parents of these children, often called "Contergan children," sharing their personal experiences of this devastating tragedy.
