Description:
In the court of Emperor Francis I in 19th-century Austria, Countess Valerie encounters a young pianist and offers him advice on his performance of a piece by Franz Schubert, her favorite composer. Unbeknownst to her, the pianist is Schubert himself, who playfully conceals his identity. The following day, Valerie visits Franz, and he teaches her the violin part of a new song he's composed. She hopes for romance, though he remains devoted to his lost love, Caroline. However, as a week passes, Franz begins to forget Caroline and reciprocates Valerie’s feelings. When Franz is evicted, chaos ensues, but he is eventually invited to court where his music is celebrated, and he and Valerie are reunited.
