In 2014, American Tim Bruns discovered climbable cliffs near Ramallah, Palestine, and began developing routes to introduce climbing to the local community. Bruns and Harris also founded Wadi Climbing, Palestine’s first indoor climbing gym. Now, amidst the ongoing conflict in the Palestinian hills, a diverse group – including Bedouins, activists, and professionals – are finding solace in climbing as a break from the pressures of the Israeli occupation. American writer and climber Andrew Bisharat travels to the West Bank to explore his own heritage and the transformative power of climbing. This documentary is part of the Reel Rock 17 series, released in 2023.
