The luxurious Danube river cruiser "Kriemhild" offers a two-day journey from Vienna to Belgrade, a floating haven for those seeking escape. Western Europeans come aboard to unwind with alcohol, entertainment, and intimacy, while the young Eastern European crew hopes to earn enough money to leave their lives behind. One night on the ship dramatically alters the course of fates for both passengers and crew. Prejudices and misunderstandings among people of different backgrounds create absurd and sometimes perilous situations, all touched with dark humor. The night reveals moments of both sorrow and joy.
