This Moment (2005)

This film showcases China's pioneering new media (cell phone) movies, featuring eight 3-minute short films alongside longer works like Jia Zhangke's "There" and Wang Xiaoshuai's "A Moment of Silence." One of the shorts, "Watermelon," a prize winner at the French Pocket Film Festival, blends reality and dreams to depict a man's futile search for a toilet. The remaining seven short films offer complete narratives, glimpses into everyday life, or explorations of specific moments in the mind. While varying in quality, they collectively reflect the diverse ways people are living today.
