Lady of the Mountain (2012)

In the summer of 2004, two engineers from Seyðisfjörður discovered a three-blade broach and an oval broach in the East Fjords mountains of Iceland. Archaeologists, led by Sigurd Bergsteinsson, arrived to investigate and unearthed the remains of a Viking woman, along with jewelry and over 500 pearls. Who was she, and why was she alone in the mountains? This unprecedented discovery – so many artifacts from a single Viking woman found in an open landscape – is the subject of this film. Produced in collaboration with the National Museum of Iceland and The Archaeological Heritage Agency of Iceland.
