Description:
Patrick Carpentier's "The Irregularity of the Tearing" is a three-part cinematic diary exploring intimacy, sensuality, and desire. The first part, "God is a Dog" (2004), uses Super 8 footage to examine the filmmaker's childhood memories and their connection to his adult relationships. "Les 9 mardis" (The 9 Tuesdays) (2005) explores the strange effects of time, how it can both reopen old wounds and provide strength to move forward. The final part, "Combat," winner of the 2006 Berlin Teddy Award for best gay film, tells the story of two young men deeply in love who express their feelings through physical violence. Set against full moons and lush forests, it's a moving portrayal of their intense relationship.
