Description:
Esteban ‘Topo’ Mena, an Ecuadorian mountain guide and promising climber, wants to be the first to climb a new route on Mount Everest. He partners with Cory Richards, a National Geographic photographer who was the first American to summit an 8,000-meter peak in winter, and they try a previously unattempted climb on Everest's north face. After failing their first attempt, they plan to return the next year. But the pandemic closes the north side of Everest, so the determined pair shifts their focus to a new route on Dhaulagiri, the world’s seventh highest mountain. As the dangers of Dhaulagiri push the team to their limits, they must grapple with their motivations for climbing and whether the risks are justified.
