Description:
Kabukicho, a well-known red-light district in Tokyo's Shinjuku area, boasts over 3,000 bars, with at least 1,000 owned by Taiwanese people. In the late 1970s, more than 10,000 Taiwanese women immigrated to Japan seeking opportunity. Many settled in Shinjuku, where they worked in bars for over two decades, sending money back to their families.
