Description:
Dharamchand, known as Dharma, is a courageous and honest farmer who is overjoyed when his wife Radha gives birth to their son, Raju. He saves Ajit, Suresh, and Sujit from a tiger attack, and they offer him work in Bombay whenever he needs it. When drought strikes their village, Dharma, Radha, Raju, and his sister Laxmi move to Bombay. Ajit secures Dharma a job as warehouse manager. Dharma works hard, but is wrongly arrested for illegal activities. Despite his pleas of innocence in court, he is convicted and sentenced to 24 months in jail. Upon his return home, he discovers devastating changes: his wife and son are struggling financially, and Laxmi has been raped by Sujit and has taken her own life.
