Description:
Ueli Steck (Switzerland), Simone Moro (Italy), and Jon Griffith (GB) are unusual climbers on Everest: they climb without supplemental oxygen, altimeters, or fixed ropes. In 2013, the trio attempts to repeat the challenging Western Spur route. Meanwhile, Sherpas are fixing ropes along the mountain, up to Camp 3, for the use of commercial expeditions. A dispute arises between the climbers and the Sherpas, escalating into a physical confrontation at Camp 2 where the European team was attacked with a water bottle. The situation quickly turns violent with blows, stones, and threats, forcing the trio to abandon their climb. The Réel Rock film crew, documenting the expedition, captures this conflict firsthand.
