Description:
If You Were Young: Rage explores a different perspective on post-war Japanese prosperity, centering on the young people excluded from the economic boom. The film follows a group of men struggling to find opportunity, who devise a plan to pool their resources and buy a dump truck, aiming for independence as independent contractors. However, life throws obstacles their way: imprisonment for one, police brutality for another, and the responsibilities of a girlfriend and children for the third. This early work by Kinji Fukasaku blends the improvisational style of the French New Wave with the cool cynicism of American noir.
