Write Me – Postcards to Copacabana (2009)

Driven by curiosity and a desire to explore, the young Alois leaves Bavaria and, after traveling through the depths of Lake Walchensee near Munich, emerges from the waters of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. In Copacabana, Alois marries Elena and together they explore the enigmatic world of the Andes. They have a son who becomes a commercial pilot but dies young in a plane crash, leaving his daughter Alfonsina orphaned and Rosa, his beautiful wife, a widow working as a flight attendant. Some years later, Alois also dies, leaving the three women completely alone. Alfonsina, now a lovely 14-year-old girl, grows up in a culturally mixed environment filled with music, dirndls, beer steins, Andean syncretism, and ch'allas.
