Description:
This performance, presented on September 23, 2005, at Zoersel, Seppenshuis, explores Avens – natural cavities in limestone dating back to 3000 BC. These formations, created by water erosion, were initially used by early people as clay quarries for pottery. Later, they served as food storage spaces, often located near underground water sources. The author encountered similar Avens in Cambous, Languedoc, also dating from 3000 BC. Reflecting on the creative process, the author notes how ideas evolve independently of the creator. During rehearsals, the concept of an Aven sparked unexpected associations, ranging from a meteor crater to a hole caused by a gas bomb.
