Carne Viva (2007)

In January 1959, approximately 9,000 workers at the state-owned Lisandro De la Torre meatpacking plant went on strike to oppose its privatization. As President Arturo Frondizi visited the United States, an unexpected wave of popular protest occurred in the Mataderos neighborhood. The film features firsthand accounts from those who participated in the historic takeover of the meatpacking plant, exploring the long-standing connections between meat production, political power, and violence in Argentina.
