Chabiwali Pocket Watch (2006)

Urdu, the musical language of the Indian subcontinent, is disappearing. Babba, an aging Urdu poet, is fading away, oblivious to the world's focus on profit over art. He lives in a self-created world of peaceful detachment, which deeply affects his daughter Minni, leading her to a life of quiet resentment. Across the street, Pappan, a struggling publisher burdened by debt, covets Babba's poems and Minni. The story follows the poet, his daughter, and the publisher – a romantic old man, a reserved but kind daughter, and an opportunistic yet somewhat naive publisher – as they all try to preserve their culture, values, language, and love, but ultimately fail.
