Description:
A refined and sensitive young woman marries a caring doctor who adores her, though she feels affection rather than love. She unexpectedly falls in love with Pedro Abrunhosa, a poet and performance artist, who reciprocates her feelings. She tries to avoid him, sharing her love for him with a nun friend and later with her husband. Her husband's desperation and jealousy grow as she cares for him during his illness. After his death, she is free to marry and pursue her passion, but the film centers on her choices and explanations, especially to her nun friend. Scenes of convent life and Abrunhosa performing offer contrasting perspectives.
