Description:
East Berlin, 1961. Shortly after the construction of the Wall, Konrad, Sophie, and three friends plan a risky escape to West Germany. They succeed, but Konrad is left behind. For the next 28 years, Konrad and Sophie will try to reunite, despite the divide. Konrad, now a respected astrophysicist, uses scientific conferences outside East Germany to arrange meetings with Sophie. However, in a country where the Stasi monitors everyone, protecting privacy and personal beliefs becomes a constant struggle as the Eastern bloc begins to fall apart.
