Break in the Clouds (2022)

Pregnant and alone, Maika flees down a farm road at night, scantily clad and visibly injured – her face bruised, eye swollen, and bleeding from the mouth. Startled by approaching headlights, she stumbles and falls. As she attempts to rise, her phone rings; it's Masayoshi, her abusive husband. Terrified, Maika smashes the phone. She slowly gets back to her feet and continues walking until she reaches a secluded love hotel on the outskirts of a provincial city.
