The Flood (2021)

Moving to Holland seems like a risky choice, especially with the risk of flooding. Over the past 25 years, the political climate has become increasingly divisive on immigration. What was once considered extreme right-wing views are now commonplace. Populist leaders reduce complex issues to simple narratives of good versus evil, creating an "us versus them" mentality. Their language often uses dehumanizing metaphors, including "water." While water isn't an immediate danger to most Dutch people, it represents a deadly threat to those desperately seeking refuge – people risking their lives in overcrowded boats across the Mediterranean or enduring harsh conditions on the Aegean coast. For them, water is a very real and present danger.
