Baji Quan (2020)

NOWNESS China presents a new film series exploring traditional Chinese culture through the eyes of a new generation. The first episode, Young Masters: Baji Quan, centers on a 23-year-old man from Hebei province dedicated to Baji Quan, a traditional fighting style known for its calm appearance and powerful, sudden attacks. Director Haonan Shen profiles Wu Hao at the Mengcun Baji Quan International Training Center, focusing on his ancestor Wu Zhong, the first recorded teacher of Baji Quan (1712–1802). This film offers an intimate look at Wu Hao’s passion for preserving his family's heritage, showcasing the art's powerful elbow strikes, staff techniques, and distinctive stances.
