Description:

Arnold started his professional music career in the early 1960s with Charles Miller's band, after playing in J. Floyd & the Shamrocks, where he often worked with a young James Brown on piano while in high school. Around 1965, he relocated to Chicago and began performing with saxophonist A.C. Reed before joining Muddy Waters' band in 1966. His time with Waters led to significant studio work, and Arnold played bass on several influential blues albums of the 1960s, including Otis Spann’s *The Blues Is Where It’s At* and John Lee Hooker’s *Live at Cafe Au Go Go*.
