Description:
Back home, he starts a trilogy of extended travel diaries, following his previous works, Desertum and Exodus. I return to my childhood home after a decade. What remains of me within its rooms, in every space? What traces do I leave behind? This quest for origins is explored not through psychology, but through a materialist approach using long, static camera shots. Memories of the house are subtly suggested by a stark examination of its physical architecture, almost devoid of people. In a way, Em casa builds upon earlier formalist explorations like Entremeio, but here the structural rigor – breaking down the house into distinct spaces – expands as the film progresses, moving from the interior to the grounds, culminating in a final, unifying plan.
