Description:
In 1944, deep in eastern China, Major Baldwin and his demolition engineering team are cut off from the retreating Chinese army. Their mission: impede the Japanese advance by destroying bridges, roads, airfields, and supply depots. They begin by targeting an American airfield and ammunition dump. Next, they're ordered to destroy a crucial bridge over a mountain pass. Using army trucks for transport, the team arrives at the bridge and encounters a Nationalist Chinese Army unit guarding it. Thanks to an American soldier who speaks Chinese, Major Baldwin asks the Chinese commander for permission to proceed. The colonel agrees, but requests that the team also destroy a nearby ammunition dump and transport Madame Sue-Mei Hung, the widow of a deceased Chinese colonel, to the nearest city.
