Imperia, la grande cortigiana (2005)

Rome, early 16th century. Imperia is a celebrated courtesan and the mistress of wealthy banker Agostino Chigi. However, she favors Angelo del Bufalo, a charming and handsome man of modest means. Their connection deepens during a dance at the Chigi family palace near Castel Sant'Angelo, now known as the Villa Farnesina. Cesare Borgia, implicated in the murder of his brother Juan, attends the inauguration party with his sister Lucrezia and her husband Alfonso. Imperia dances with several knights before finding herself in the arms of a knight who had rescued her from brigands the previous day. This knight becomes her secret lover.
