Description:
On the isolated island of Sandø, cut off from the mainland by ice, schoolteacher Johannes Vig lives a solitary existence. With the islanders relying on each other for survival, Johannes harbors secret affections for both Annemari, the grocer's daughter, and Rigmor, the farmer's wife, struggling to express his feelings amidst a bleak life.
