Description:
Whales are found dead on beaches after eating plastic, and oceans are polluted. A quarter of all marine waste now comes from cans and plastic bottles. The drinks industry produces 470 billion single-use bottles annually, with Coca-Cola accounting for 25% of that. Despite setting goals to reduce environmental damage, the world's largest soft drink producer has frequently fallen short. In the 1950s, the company sold its drinks only in returnable glass bottles, which were washed and refilled. Twenty years later, they switched to disposable bottles – a choice with lasting consequences.
